I am a children’s book author illustrator and picture book maker based in Cape Town.
I’ve been making art and stories as far back as I can remember and as a child, you could always find me outdoors, exploring the magic in our world through art and play.
I completed my BA degree in illustration and have studied further with art and writing and I also recently completed a postgraduate diploma in art therapy (WSU) and I am hoping to use this insight to also create books that can be used in therapy.
I enjoy experimenting and making use of traditional and digital mediums and my work is usually a mix of vibrant colours, textures, emotion and a touch of magic.
Apart from illustrating and writing books, I have a great love for paper engineering and would love to create more books incorporating things like pop-ups, lift-the-flaps, and various other paper mechanics.
I work best through visual storytelling and collaborating with authors and businesses. Some clients include Jive Media Africa, Via Afrika, Nunuki as well as authors publishing traditionally and self-publishing .
To help bridge the literacy and diversity gap in Africa, I have done volunteer picture book illustration for three Book Dash events.
Other illustration commissions have been a variety of projects from personal portraits, wedding stationery and illustrated maps, to murals and temporary window art.
